So after I moved away from playing ARMA 2 my level creation hobby took a back seat for awhile. Well after the recently released Skyrim Creation Kit (CK) came out I decided to try my hand at level design for Skyrim.

After a few hours of following the excellent tutorials that Bethesda released with the CK I published my first mod entitled Lokir’s tomb (download here) hopefully this will be one of many to come soon now that I’ve grasped the basics.

So this morning a colleague of mine was having issues publishing an Infopath form for a SharePoint List with the following error:

The SOAP response indicates that an error occurred on the server:

Server was unable to process request. —> Browser-enabling of form templates is not allowed for current user. Contact your server administrator for help with this issue

A quick check showed that she had full control of the list but was unable to publish. After some quick investigation it turns out you need access at the Site level not just the List level that she had. I thought I’d post this little tidbit up as I didn’t see any references to the issue via Google or Bing.

So I play FPS games quite a bit. One game I’ve been playing over the last year is Armed Assault 2, which is a consumer military battle simulator. It allows dozens of players (typically between 40-100+) to take part in a variety of roles, from Infantry to Pilots.

It also has a great mission making platform and the game’s multiplayer community is completely made up by online groups making their own content. I’ve been using this game to learn game design, balancing and iterating based on player feedback.

Here is a video from a stress test of my latest ARMA2 map. In this players have dynamic enemy spawns, so that a balanced number of enemy are always close by to the player (giving them something to shot at or be shot by). The overall goal for the players is to kill enemy AI who have a chance of dropping an item (briefcase), when they pick up this briefcase they are given an approximate location of an enemy ammo cache (the mission’s main objectives), the more they collect the closer the marker. Once they find an ammo cache they destroy it and then proceed to find the next one.

The map has a high level of replay value as AI is dynamically spawning around them, caches will be randomly placed across the map each time the mission is started. The in-game map/world itself is taken from elsewhere in the community and is about 64km2 to scale.

If you would rather see a video then check this out

I have a habit of not finishing games I start to play. So I decided to make a list of all the games I started in 2010 but did not complete in an effort to finish as many as possible before 2011

It’s no secret I’m into gaming in a big way. Working in the gaming industry it is almost a job prerequisite. Though it does mean I start to play way more games than I actually finish, typically running into a hard part of a specific level or having a game bug on me sees it get thrown to the sidelines while I’ll crack open a new title.

So for before 2010 is up I’m going to make a list of all the games I started in 2010 but never properly played/finished.

Fallout New Vegas

Mass Effect 2

Football Manager 2011

Supreme Commander 2

<del datetime="2010-12-27T01:52:17+00:00">Red Dead Redemption</del> (Completed 26th Dec )

Alan Wake

Any of the Kinect Games

Tropico 3

Gods of War 2 (only bought it this year)

Halo Reach

Special Mention for Fable 3 which I bought but haven’t even started to play

So that is a long list, I have a week off from work next week so hopefully I can put some of those to rest before the end of 2010. I highly doubt I’m the only person who suffers from “Disgamia Completia” so please comment with your own games started but not finished in 2010, I bet I’ll find some on your list I forgot!
